Preparing for a CCTV monitoring assessment

What commercial and industrial site teams should gather before requesting a remote CCTV monitoring proposal.

A monitoring quotation needs more than a camera count. It should connect the premises, operating hours and events of interest with a practical response process.

Describe the site and its working hours

Identify entrances, yards, loading areas and spaces where assets are stored. Explain when people are expected on site and any regular out-of-hours activity. Share a general layout through the channel agreed with the contractor.

Gather existing equipment information

List camera and recorder makes and models, maintenance arrangements and general connectivity information. Compatibility needs assessment before an existing system can be accepted for monitoring. Do not send credentials in an initial website enquiry.

Agree what follows an event

Discuss event verification, notifications, primary and backup contacts, keyholding and any attendance arrangements. Confirm whether the proposed service is event-triggered monitoring or another arrangement, its hours and exclusions.

Compare the full scope

Separate any installation or upgrade work from recurring monitoring and maintenance. Ask who provides each element, how faults and contact changes are reported, and what happens if connectivity is interrupted. MCN can review your requirements and discuss the next assessment step.
