New-build plumbing tenders: what to include

A practical brief for housebuilders and main contractors requesting a plumbing, heating and gas package quotation.

MCN Mechanical & Electrical · · 1 min read

A useful tender pack makes the package boundaries and programme clear. Before requesting a plumbing, heating and gas quotation, bring the current drawings, specification and plot information together and identify any unresolved items.

Identify the plots and the document revision

Include the site address, plot count, house types and drawing register. Mark the latest revisions and explain any differences between plots. Supply schedules for sanitaryware, heating and hot-water equipment where available.

Define what is included

List installation, testing, commissioning and handover requirements. Identify who supplies materials, completes builder’s work, provides temporary services and owns design information. State whether gas work is required and supply the relevant specification.

Connect the package with the programme

Provide the tender deadline, expected appointment date, first-fix and second-fix sequence, plot-release dates and completion milestones. Highlight access constraints and dependencies on other trades.

Explain what is still provisional

Flag incomplete design, unconfirmed quantities and unresolved specification choices. Ask for assumptions and exclusions to be recorded so quotations can be compared on a consistent basis. Send MCN the available project information and describe the stage of your development.
